Ardleigh St. Mary's Church of England (VC) Primary School

PE Sports Premium

At Ardleigh St. Mary's C of E Primary School, we believe that physical education, experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is vital and unique in its contribution to a pupil's physical and emotional development and health. The physical education curriculum aims to provide for pupils' increasing self-confidence through an ability to manage themselves successfully in a variety of situations. We want to offer experiences that are both challenging and inspiring to all of our pupils.

We also offer a range of additional curricular activities for the children, including during and after school clubs aimed at developing and promoting sport. These are run by school staff, qualified instructors and interested parents. A full list of these activities can be found on our website.

In September 2013 the government's first allocation of sport funding was implemented in each school. This additional funding has provided us with the opportunity to identify areas of PE in which we wish to make further progression. This development will continue to happen throughout the

academic year.

Below, is an outline of some of the schemes and programmes which are being put into place through this funding over the academic year.

  • Continuation of Squash Programme across the school including:
    • Curriculum coaching for FS2 - Y6
    • Intra-school competitions - FS2 - Y6
    • Inter-school competitions - Y3 - Y6
